Our company, MBTION was born in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria’s devastating dance with Puerto Rico in 2017, and our tale unfolds from the depths of loss. A transformation transpired as a world class car interior fabricator and former Car Audio World Champion turned Uber driver after his shop was destroyed and looted, found a new purpose inspired by the innocent musings of his 7-year-old son and Co-Founder, Marcos Alexis, and how his enchanting notion to unveil Puerto Rico’s magic to the world gave birth to an idea: MBTION (Marcos Best Tours In Our Nation). As life was really hard and 19 hours shifts Ubering were consuming our founders life, who was only left with his car and some clothes after the hurricane, he was still trying to squeeze time to get all the permits, insurance and licences to register his new venture, but also had to drive that much to get the needed money to make it happen. But one day, while doing a $5 ride at midnight he was telling a customer about his kid’s idea and his struggles with time, and when they arrived to the destination the customer replied to him “Man, you must stop doing the rat race and take control of your life. Look in the mirror, is this what you want for your son? Quit this and get your act together, so you can do what you enjoy showing visitors your island, and being an example give your son a chance in life”. That line made him realize that he had to act swiftly and in a leap of faith and with a $5,000 loan from his father, he quited doing Uber following his son’s vision and his passion to build and, like a Lego set, put each piece together until MBTION was born. Since then our experiences have been inspired by Marcos Alexis, who in 2023 became the World’s Youngest Internationaly Certified Tour Guide at only 12 years old, and crafted with echoes of love and hospitality reminiscent of our grandparents’s countryside haven in Camuy, who taught us that withholding the richness of the experiences we can deliver from others was a subtle theft. Thus, with that ethos guiding us, we extend to each customer an unparalleled human experience –which we believe is their birthright, not just a paid service. But we also see ourselves as Ambassadors and keepers of our beloved island, and understanding our duty is with our people we share our blessings with those in need not only delivering food, water and free transportation during emergencies, but also sharing our experiences with our disadvantaged communities families so they can experience and discover a Puerto Rico their limitations don’t allow them to know. Where will I be picked up and dropped?

You will be picked up and dropped off in Condado at 1055 Ashford Ave, in the Condado Vanderbilt Valet area, or behind Walgreens if coming in a cruise so that you won’t have to get a taxi or Uber to go to some spot in Old San Juan and then have to guess where to find your guide or stand among hundreds of people coming off the ship trying to find your guide.

Will there be a language barrier between me and my guide?

No chance of that happening! You will get a fully bilingual professional guide during the whole experience.

Will I see only a portion of the Cay and then be on my own?

The beauty of this tour is that it takes you through the Cay and we will show you the ways wherein you can make the most out of the experience while we keep an eye on you so you’re safe the whole time you’re making those memories. You can also choose to come back onboard and just enjoy the views and some refreshments.

What makes this tour different from other Bioluminescent Tours?

The biggest difference with this tour is that we take you to the Bioluminescence in a boat that requires no effort on your part. Then, you can swim and immerse in it and not just swipe your hand 3 feet above the water in a kayak. With other tour packages like Fajardo bioluminescent tours, they are done in kayaks. It is an uneventful and less than ideal way to experience it because with kayaking in the dark through a narrow channel you will end up bumping into other kayaks and the occasional mangrove roots. It is also within the main island, so no ferry or overnight stay to do it like in Mosquito Bay.

Is swimming in the bioluminescent water safe for me or the bioluminescence?

Swimming in the bioluminescent water will feel just like a regular swim. The dinoflagellates are microscopic and very resilient, so the oil on our skin represent no harm for them. You won’t feel any difference from regular sea water other than the bay is a bit warmer due to limited water flow and salter because there used to be salt mines in the area. Which makes it better because you will float easier! Also, don’t worry because we have foam noodles that you can use to float even easier.

What makes this tour different from other Snorkeling Tours?

This tour gives you the opportunity to go under the radar and visit places very few know about that are truly must-do places in our island. The drive to La Parguera and the ever changing landscape will leave lasting impressions, but it is the easiness of snorkeling in 3-4 ft deep crystal clear waters and watching the Caribbean sunset from a Cay and swimming in bioluminescence waters is what makes it so special. After that, you will be taken to go to Manati and then Mar Chiquita Beach where you will swim in a magnificent beach. You can also hike amazing rock formations facing the ocean with amazing views with the ocean breeze grazing your body. You will go through a trail very few locals even know about. You will then make a stop for lunch at the top restaurant in the center of the island: Don Carlos.

After lunch, you will be driven through the narrow and twisted roads of our State Tropical Rainforest while admiring the greenery, cliffs, and views left and right of our country side and the rural Puerto Rico. There at Toro Negro Tropical Rainforest is where you will visit perhaps the most beautiful waterfall setting in all our island at Las Delicias. You will have the chance to bathe, drink, and breathe in Puerto Rico’s purest water and air. You will finish at La Piedra Escrita in Adjuntas. It is a big rock with Indian carvings and a nice pond where you can also bathe in. Our tour with MBTION was very good. The guide was informative and incredibly well versed in the history of Old San Juan. Although a short 2 hour tour, we left with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Puerto Rico, its history, and its people.

This area is a MUST SEE!. When we went (we visited it twice) it was a very windy day and for sure no swimming was allowed. There is a sign that says "NO SWIMMING" but take a chair and a couple drinks and just sit. You cant stop watching the waves splash over the rocks and come up on the beach. Definately do not take kids because they will only be tempted to swim.

We were able to take two tours earlier this month with Carlos. They were both private and in setting up the tours Carlos was great to work with and we settled on using the SUV. The SUV was great for our family that included two kids. For the old San Juan tour Carlos let us know the day before there were going to be some potential protests so helped and adjusted the time. Both days Carlos was waiting at the hotel to pick us up. The old San Juan tour was perfect - Carlos was a great guide and provided us with details of the history of PR and made it real with anecdotes from his own family and experiences. He also was able to answer our many questions. We had the right amount of time walking around and seeing the forts. The second day we did an all day nature tour. The first stop and beach were phenomenal - the views of the waves and climbing over the rocks to look out on the ocean were a highlight and this was not crowded at all. Carlos also took the time to ensure we ate on our lunch schedule and ended up at a very clean, tasty, and authentic local spot where he helped us navigate the menu. Driving through the middle of the island and all the ups and downs provides great views and at the waterfall was a good balance of a short hike and being rewarded with a pretty cool experience the whole family enjoyed. We then went to another are along a river with a huge rocks and petroglyphs and got in the river too. On the way back we had a few options but decided on visiting a black sand beach. Through the two days Carlos was friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and was very good to the entire family including the kids. He also knew quite a lot about the history of the hotel the El San Juan we were at. These two days were exactly what we wanted in terms of exploring, history, sightseeing and nature.

My 8 y/o daughter and I had the pleasure of doing not one, but two separate tours with Carlos! The first day we went hiking in the rainforest and got a tour of Old San Juan. The next day we took a scenic road trip through the mountains to the other side of the island to go snorkeling. We saw a bunch of beautiful fish, a sea urchin, and even a spider crab 😆 All the while, Carlos would fill the time by telling us stories about the history of Puerto Rico, point out the “must see” features on the trip (even pull over on the side of the road so we wouldn’t miss the sights), and just generally be the kindest, friendliest human. 10/10. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Our guide, Carlos, was so kind and incredibly informative about the history of Puerto Rico, all the way from the lives of the original indigenous people, all the way to modern-day Puerto Rican politics, as well as the culture, food and geography. He showed us the two major forts, took us to one of the original creators of the pina colada and shared lots of stories about colonial Puerto Rico and its years as an American territory. Our 11-year old daughter and 10-year son were captivated, and we really enjoyed our time with Carlos.

We had a wonderful time from pick up to return. The snorkeling around Gilligan was wonderful. Carlos and his crew made sure we experienced the playfulness of the dolphins while cruising around the bay. The crews knowledge of the history was fantastic. Local cuisine was amazing. The bioluminescence bay was fantastic. One of the most memorable moments of our day!! Thank you so much. Highly recommend the full day experience!!!

What a wonderful experience! After a 2 hour drive seeing the majestic landscape, we got to Guilligan, a little piece of paradise, that no one should miss when visiting Puerto Rico. While Guilligan was great, the biobay was awesome.There are no words to describe how this waters glow with every movement you make appearing to be stardust flowing from every inch of your body. This one is a true bucket list experience. And we just checked it from the list. Thank you Carlos for the excellent service and attentions, but specially for the memories that will last forever.

Carlos was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour that allowed us a visit to a rainforest off the beaten path. It was not the same rainforest in El Yunque where all the other tour groups go to. Instead being on a private tour with 11 ppl it was great to be able to go at our own pace; which made the the 1.5 hour drive well worth it. The higher price for a private tour, not surrounded by other tours and people, and swimming in and seeing an amazing waterfall all to ourselves was just fantastic. MBTION's off the beaten path tours are definitely unique and we felt like VIPs. We know this as we also booked a private boat tour to swim in the bio bay in Le Perguera with MBTION as well.

Gulligan’s was AMAZING and swimming in Papayo bay was way better than the Fajardo kayak tour. We felt safe (critical during covid), were removed from crowds and yet had the most fun we’ve probably ever had on a vacation. Carlos was incredible, and seeing the lands from his perspective and learning the history there was an experience that you cannot put a price on. Everything was clean, everyone we encountered was courteous and we thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I would recommend it for families and friend groups- even groups with children. This is a private tour that felt like it should’ve cost 3x what it did. Yes, it is expensive. But seriously, it was worth every single penny- in a world where very few things are worth what they cost. Go on this tour, thank yourself for taking my advice later.

Carlos and his son were the best hosts ever. We were picked up from San Juan and taking on a scenic route to the bay. The boat was beautiful and the bioluminescence bay itself was an experience i’ll never forget. Carlos is easy to communicate with and catered to our last minute request. We are last minute planners and he accommodated the private boat for us 3 hours in advance. Pickup was easy as well.We loved it so much we returned to PR in March 2021 and called Carlos to do the rainforest tour. My family loved it.Thank you again to you and your son we will be back

First of all I would like to thanks Carlos Alexis for his Exceptional Service and professionalism. We went to the beautiful water falls called El Yunque , he took at different views at the rain forest and waterfall around and recommended places to go also. The views were exceptional and the recommended beaches I was with my family of six including my grand parents. My grandfather he is handy cap and Carlos was always by his side , Every time I looked back to see where my grandfather was Carlos was always by his side. Realizamos esta reservacion basados en las recomendaciones de amistades que habian realizado algunas de ella de manera individual y que bueno que lo hicimos.El Viejo SJ es encantador y la gran cantidad de informacion historica y social organizada y estructurada nos permitio crear una nueva vision de San Juan y Puerto Rico.Igualmente la belleza de sus playas, bosques y cascadas fue inesperada, y unido a las atenciones y buen servicio de Carlos hicieron de cada dia uno especial.Mas sin embargo fue Guilligans y sus aguas cristalinas y el nadar en la bahia bioluminiscente la parte que nos dejo con deseos de regresar. Recently my wife and I, along with our two children (ages 13 and 9), traveled to Puerto Rico for a family vacation. We had looked forward to the trip for months, but grew concerned in the final weeks before that COVID was going to prevent our travel. Then came Carlos Alexis constantly reassuring us that we should come and that we would have a great time. We went. And we had an exceptional vacation. Carlos met us on our first day to take us to Gilligan's Island. It ended up being one the best experiences of our lives. From the jump Carlos was friendly, engaging and fun. He knows so much about the area and loves to talk about it with pride. After we left Gilligan's Carlos took us to an amazing street food vendor which we never would have found on our own. The fried pork was possibly the best meal of the week. The next day Carlos picked us up at our hotel and took us to some really amazing spots including all throughout old San Juan, to a breathtaking waterfall and to several beautiful beaches each with very unique characteristics and scenery. And he again took us to get some of the most amazing street food you can imagine. They guy knows history...he knows great locations...and he knows great food! By the time we departed ways I felt like Carlos was more of a friend than a tour guide. He's friendly, funny, engaging, and he really truly knows so much about Puerto Rico. He loves his homeland and he takes pride in making others love it as well. I can't recommend him enough and hope that if you decide to take a trip to the beautiful land of Puerto Rico you will try to get up with him and allow him to give you some once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We took the Gilligan's Island tour on short notice and were picked up from the condo we were staying at in Loisa on the northeast side of the island and transported to the southeast side of the island where we then were able to head over to Gilligan's Island for snorkeling and kayaking. We were able to stop off along the way for a light lunch at an authentic restaurant on the way there and stopped off for dinner on the way back and and enjoyed the food. Carlos, our guide provided us with a wealth of information about Puerto Rico on our trip there and back. The water was beautiful around GIlligan's island and we enjoyed our trip.

On a recent cruise to San Juan, Puerto Rico we had a marvelous private tour of both Old and New San Juan with a wonderful tour guide, Carlos Alexis, who was very knowledgeable and very friendly. We had not been to San Juan since 1967 so we were very interested in seeing the changes since that time. We could not have been more pleased with the guide we had as he went out of his way to give us a marvelous tour and gave us information that made the tour extremely interesting and often not included in many tours which helped make the tour so enjoyable. We would give Carlos a 5*++ rating and would advise others to ask for him for your tour as you will not be disappointed. It exceeded our expectations! My three boys, little brother and I went on the all day tour to Gilligan’s Island, sunset at Parguera and then the Bio Bay. It was an absolute amazing experience! Carlos, our guide, was exceptional!On our way we stopped at a restaurant and had amazing street food! Once we got to Gilligan’s it was so beautiful! The water is so clear, and it’s a great spot for all kinds of activities. We also saw several iguanas running around, and one of the was HUGE! We loved this place!After spending a few hours at Gilligan’s it was time to head to Parguera. Parguera is a great little community with so many things to do. We stopped at another restaurant and ate mofongo and empanadillas...they were excellent as well! I can’t get enough of this amazing authentic food! After eating we boarded another boat to take us to a couple cayos for swimming and exploring. Once again, more beautiful water! The sunset was breathtaking, and once dark I’ve never seen so many stars in my life! We then travel to bio bay and are absolutely amazed. The kids jump in the water and anytime they move their arms and legs the water just lights up and sparkles. They said they felt like little super heros! Coolest thing ever!This tour is a must! Our private historic old & new San Juan tour began when Carlos picked us up at our hotel in a very comfortable suv. For the next two hours he drove us all over San Juan and showed us so many sights. He has a minor in history and that’s very obvious. He knows so much about San Juan and graciously shared that knowledge. Instead of going back to our hotel we asked for a good restaurant Carlos recommended a great restaurant and dropped us there for lunch. Carlos lead an amazing private tour! We coordinated him to pick us up from the San Juan airport and commence the tour from there. Carlos first took us for lunch at a bodega in Piñones, which was totally delicious. We then saw New San Juan, the murals of Calle Cera, Old San Juan and The Vanderbilt. Carlos was well versed on all things Puerto Rico from ancient history to pop culture and anyone could benefit from touring with such a knowledgeable guide.

Outstanding tour with a very knowledgeable guide.We had only several hours to see San Juan prior to boarding our cruise ship.This tour picked us up at our hotel, gave us an excellent tour of both Old and New San Juan, and dropped us together with our luggage at our cruise terminal. Everything from pick-up to drop-off ran on time.Tour vehicle was spacious, very comfortable and air conditioned.

My husband and I had a wonderful tour with Carlos this morning. We picked an early time and he wisely made it even earlier to avoid inevitable traffic. Our tour was both historical and cultural with Carlos showing us the major buildings and monuments of San Juan. His descriptions and detailed information about the different sections of the City were extremely interesting and we especially liked the murals he showed us, painted by local artists. His personal connection to at least one of these was special.We’d suggest to Tripadvisor that an exchange of phone numbers between the guide and tourist would make schedule connections easier.In sum, we highly recommend this tour, especially for those who would have difficulty on a walking tour.

My girlfriend and I met Carlos on our Old San Juan tour and really liked his personality. He mentioned he did a tour to the only bioluminescent bay you can actually swim in Puerto Rico, and we were excited to go. We had actually considered the kayak tours before we got to Puerto Rico, but decided against it. This was a really unique experience. There are only so many places you even have the bioluminescent bays and unfortunately, a lot of them are too polluted to swim in. We drove to La Parguera, which according to the people we met afterwards made us instant locals. We took a nice boat out to the Caracoles Cayo. This is apparently a big party spot in the summer. No one there when we went but it was nice and the water was only about chest deep. The sunset was amazing. Then we went to the bay and swam in the bioluminescent bay until we were tired. They were super bright. Something to be seen.

The tour Guide was knowledgeable and really knew his islands. He was politically aware and motivated to be sure he provided a great experience. He gave more than he received. His vehicle was large and comfortable. He has been involved in charity to help his country recover from the hurricane and earthquake. The country is back on its feet in the tourist areas etc so there is no reason not to travel to this wonderful place and take this tour so you can leave the country with more of an appreciation for centuries of history.

We booked a historic 2 hr tour of Old San Juan with Carlos for my wife, 2 adult sons, daughter in law and myself and was pleasantly surprised at what was covered in few hours.Carlos is bilingual which aloud us to speak in Spanish and transition into English as needed. His knowledge of the island, inhabitants and history of Puerto Rico was fascinating, educational and fun.Carlos was so accommodating and flexible. During conversation we mentioned that we had not been able to find "limber de coco" (Puerto Rican coconut icee), he immediately pulled over and pointed to a small shop where we found our Limbers de coco. I took my son to see the observatory and it was amazing. We did spend for the VIP tour and saw how everything functions. Our guide has interesting facts to tell us. Everyone is very nice but do ask questions. When we went , they did have food for sale towards the end of the tour on the top area , where you can take pictures with the observatory in the background. The climb up to the observatory is steep but they do have car ride up and down for those who need it. I would go early to take in everything and slowly enjoy it all. I would go back for another visit.

We spent three hours tooling around old and new San Juan locations with Carlos who had a deep knowledge of PR and San Juan history and a passion for and pride in same. This tour was so unique and soooo amazing! My boyfriend and I were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. We got to see some of the beautiful artwork on some of the buildings and houses in San Juan. Also, we got to go on a tour of Old San Juan and saw some of the beautiful tourist sites. The most interesting part was meeting Ms. Camille at the Vanderbilt Hotel. She is a world class mixologist and she is amazing! This tour is great for couples and groups. I highly recommend this tour if you want a unique experience. I was so impressed with this tour and I would definitely do it again when I go back to Puerto Rico.

At the last minute we decided to take a private tour of old San Juan and are we ever glad we did. Our tour guide Carlos was exceptional. His patriotism and love for his Puerto Rico shone thru. He told us all about the rich heritage of this beautiful country for the past 5 centuries. He was so passionate in his tour that we felt as if it had come to life. Carlos answered each and every one of our questions with patience and professionalism. He even told us about the role Puerto Rico played in helping the Americans/Allies emerge victorious in WW II. His passion for PR is amazing. We toured the island this past Saturday (11/16/2019) and it was awesome even though it was a busy Saturday. He took us to parts that we wouldn’t have ever seen from the hotel. We saw elite sections and the not so elite. His narrations were awesome. I learned things about Old and New SAN Juan on this tour and have taken two previous Segway tours in San Juan. Loved our guide and the true passion he showed for his home during our tour. The stops he planned for us were great! I knew nothing about the “Central Park” in San Juan or the reason it is rarely visited by locals. There were literally less than 10 people there during two drives past that area. The statues of leaders were new to me as well. The stop at what I think was The Capitol Building was also a favorite as well as the younger guide interaction we had from that location. A few weeks ago, a group of friends had the greatest idea of spending the day on the Guilligans-Sunset-Biobay trip. Carlos, MBtion’s tour guide was the perfect ambassador one could ever expect. Our tour guide picked us up in a black Mercedes SUV at our Airbnb in Isla Verde and showed us around New and Old San Juan. He was amazing and we recommend to anyone who comes to Puerto Rico. My wife and I booked an all day private tour of Puerto Rico directly through MBTion VIP Experience for 9-15-19. We booked this charter and we loved it. Carlos was very welcoming, the service was excellent and the inclusion of the transportation from SJ in a Mercedes SUV was a nice touch.
